Here at Great American Downtown (GAD) we believe in Stay, Work, Play right here in Nashua. Our tag line is Eat, Shop, Live Local! The GAD organization is strongly focused on the arts, community and promoting downtown commerce. We have now partnered with the City of Nashua and The River Casino Sports Bar to bring you yet another spectacular free event. This September 30th we will be having what we are calling the New England Roots Festival. After great success with our first free music event, the Nu Muse Festival, staged on a closed off section of Main Street here in Nashua this past May, we are ready to get the juices flowing and dance in the streets again. The New England Roots Folk Festival will be a free event starting at noon and carrying through till 10pm; in addition to live music, this festival will feature food trucks, live art, interactive demonstrations, local artisanal vendors and more.
There will be three stages set up for the festival with the main stage featuring artists of a diverse and high quality selection, some nationally and regionally acclaimed acts, featuring performances all can enjoy. On the main stage right on Main Street performances will include: The Jacob Joliff Band, The Appleseed Collective, Julie Rhodes, Bill Scorzari, Twisted Pine, Say Darling, and Young Frontier.
If you are looking for some good bluegrass, gypsy swing and soul-wrenching blues to feast ears upon, come down and visit us in Nashua for our folk festival. We hope to see you there. For more details about the event and to listen to some of the bands, visit our event page.
My name is Crystal Cobb and my home is Nashua. I moved here in 2005 after finishing my first degree, a Fine Arts Bachelor’s in Professional Writing. Just recently I finished a second degree, an Assisting Associates in Speech and Language Pathology, but I’m not sure it’s the right field for me. I’d been feeling like I wanted to do more with my first degree and started an internship with Great American Downtown over the past several months and now I’m an employee. GAD is a terrific organization that does a lot to promote commerce, arts and culture in Downtown Nashua. It’s hard not to feel good about what I do. I like art, I like to dance, I create in all mediums and to have a position where I can be creative and expressive truly means the world to me. It’s been a pleasure writing for Stay Work Play as the GAD mission is just that except we tag ours as Eat Shop Live Local! Cheers.
