When you think about succeeding personally and professionally, can you bank on your employer to give you the tools, knowledge, and ability to do so? Sherwin Parkhurst can.
Sherwin, 33, is the Senior Vice President / Sr. Relationship Manager at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in its Middle Market Global Commercial Banking group. He works with New Hampshire-based companies that have annual sales of $50 million and above and acts as their primary bank contact and key financial advisor. He also partners with bank colleagues across the globe to deliver solutions such as cash management, commercial lending, foreign exchange, and so on.
“Everything I do is about building and maintaining long-term relationships,” said Sherwin, whose objective is to help companies grow and create financial efficiencies. “It is also incredibly rewarding to witness the magnitude of Bank of America’s commitment to support local communities and non-profits, and the emphasis placed on each of us finding ways to contribute to that effort.”
For example, through the Bank of America’s Better Money Habits program, Sherwin has been teaching financial literacy and recovery sessions to individuals at a local non-profit.
“It really seems to make a difference,” he said.
Sherwin was first drawn to Bank of America because of its reputation as a top tier global financial institution, strong Babson College alumni presence, and by the prospect of having both job and geographic mobility. He’s been with Bank of America for more than 10 years in a variety of roles and locations. To him, the mobility he’s had has been rewarding, both personally and professionally.
Through his years at Bank of America, Sherwin has learned some key insights to success at the company.
“Keep an open mind and be willing to try something new,” said Sherwin. “People value experience from different roles or lines of business as much as simply tenure.”
When he’s not working, Sherwin enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristen, their 16 month old son, Jackson, and their Irish Doodle named Dudley.
