This week I had the honor of interviewing Katie Barlow, a woman born and raised in the Lakes Region and who is living her life for others! Katie can’t imagine living anywhere else! When she is not working you can find her outside taking in all of what this beautiful state has to offer! She enjoys boating, hiking, hunting, camping, and fishing with her high school sweetheart, Devin, and their three beautiful girls!
Katie is the co-owner, with her husband Devin, of Barlow Trucking & Property Maintenance LLC. She is also the Children’s Ministry Leader and Leader of the Adult Group Iron Sharpeners at Faith Alive Christian Fellowship. Katie also helps out with the Lakes Region Free Kids Carnival held every May! This is a huge community outreach event that families of the Lakes Region look forward to each and every year! This event brings in thousands every year!
Katie also volunteers with Hands Across the Table, a weekly free dinner offered in Laconia. She has traveled to New York City and Peru to do volunteer work and to put love into action! She also supports numerous organizations through donating money, donating service hours or attending their fundraisers such as Love146, The Fatih Hope and Love Foundation, and Safe Haven Pregnancy Center. If that wasn’t enough she is also the founder of the Free Baby Boutique – an annual event where New Hampshire residents can come and get all of their baby needs for absolutely FREE!
Katie started the FREE Baby Boutique to help babies and children in need to have appropriate clothing for all four seasons, as well as toys and books, and for mothers to have maternity clothes. Katie understands the value of helping out our neighbors and the financial burden raising children can have on families. Katie lives by the motto of giving with joy, smiling with authenticity, and always lending a helping hand. The mission of her outreach is to be a part in meeting the needs of others as well as helping children to not go without basic survival and enrichment needs.
Here are five facts you should know about the FREE Baby Boutique:
- On average over 300 people attend.
- Light refreshments are provided at the event for guests.
- A children’s movie is put on the big screen for children to watch while a parent is “shopping.”
- Volunteers help bring bigger items to vehicles and volunteers are there for emotional support for those that need it!
- The event is fun, lively, and has many raffle prizes.
Want to help and just don’t know how? Well here is your chance!
Katie is now taking donations for gently used or new baby/kids items, maternity clothes, diapers, toys or books. They can be dropped off at 72 Primrose Drive in Laconia between July 1st and August 30th. If you can’t drop off your items, Katie can pick them up if you live in the Lakes Region!
Save the Date:
September 9th from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM at 72 Primose Drive in Laconia! This is certainly an event to share and let your neighbors know how they can get clothes, diapers and toys for their children and youth!

Advice to young professionals:
When asked why young professionals should give back Katie said: “Every goal, every dream, and every success begin on the inside of you. We should strive to be the person we needed when we were younger. If we walk through life with tunnel vision we will never see those around us. Taking the attention off of your own life and helping others to bring hope to their future seriously changes the inside of yourself. It heals places in you that you didn’t even know existed or were broken. It brings a special joy to your heart and brings feelings of accomplishment. We need to live each day on purpose, for a purpose.”
“If you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there.” Lewis Carroll
