Hi everyone, my name is Brianna and I’m going to be working with Stay Work Play for the next couple months! I’m very excited to help out with media and design at Stay Work Play! It’s a very exciting time for me and I can’t wait to get started. I recently learned about Stay Work Play this year, and I am very grateful I found it because it is an amazing organization that I feel passionate about. It’s really great to work with an organization that has beliefs that match my own.
I grew up in Alton Bay and I have lived there my whole life. My family grew up on Lake Winnipesaukee and it has always been a big part of my life. I enjoy everything about the lake. I find it so peaceful and it is just an overall happy place for me. In the summer you can find me boating, kayaking, swimming, and relaxing on the shore in Alton Bay. It doesn’t even have to be summer, I’ve been kayaking on Christmas day even! That’s how much I love the lake! I’m happy when I’m surrounded by nature and that is why I love being here in New Hampshire.
For fun, I like to paint, play the ukulele, hike, and be with family and friends. My family is really important to me and I am always hiking and spending time with them on the lake! I’m also a huge fan of dogs! I have a dog named Dixie and she is the sweetest!
I attend Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) and even though I still can’t believe it, I will be a senior this fall. SNHU has been so life-changing for me personally. I grew a lot as a person just after my first year there. It provided me with a lot of opportunities I never thought I would get. I got involved, I was doing things on my own, I was learning new things, and I was meeting lots of new friends. It was an incredible experience that exposed me to new situations that overall shaped me into the person I am today.
At SNHU I am a Resident Assistant, which allows me to really be a student leader on campus. I’ve learned that everyone can be a leader and we all can lead in different ways. I feel that being a Resident Assistant is my way, and I love being that resource for students. This position has also allowed me to meet lifelong friends and that is irreplaceable. I think SNHU is a great community and I’m very happy to be a part of it.
My junior year, I decided to study abroad in New Zealand for a semester to study design. This was also a life-changing experience for me. It is also something that has really shaped me into who I am today. At first, I was really out of my comfort zone, but that was okay! I learned to adapt to a new culture and way of life. I learned how to rely on myself and become more confident. I got to experience so many cool things like nature walks, beaches, geothermal activity, glow worms, sea lions, beautiful mountains, and so much more! I learned a lot from this experience and it gave me a new outlook on life. Once I got back home, I felt more appreciative of the little things. I became more grateful for the things I have, and the time and company of my friends and family became so much more valuable to me. I really adopted a new perspective. Now that I am back home, I still have the desire to explore! I feel like there is so much in my own backyard that I don’t even know about yet! That’s why I plan to explore more parts of New Hampshire and keep the adventure going!
Moving forward, I’m still trying to figure out exactly what I want to do career-wise when I’m older, but I definitely have a lot of interest in design, communications, and marketing! I’m excited to see what happens, but for the time being, I’m going to explore my options through internships like this one! From this internship, I hope to gain professional experience so that I will be prepared for future jobs. Five years from now, I see myself living in New Hampshire on Lake Winnipesaukee, working a design or marketing job for a company. My house will surely have a dog or two! Can’t forget that!
I’m excited to see what happens next! Thanks for reading and getting to know me!
