General Job Description:
Responsible for assembling, cataloguing, preserving and managing valuable materials and documents of the historic Belknap Mill Society. Coordinate the organization and storage of the collection with the Operations Manager and create a stimulating research space. Generate a sustainable and compatible classification system of archiving for future accessions, and prepare and compile archival records into a digital database.
Duties and Responsibilities:
~Review existing catalog of Belknap Mill Society archives; confirm that the current
organization method is appropriate or develop an alternative method if needed.
~Re-organize archival storage area transforming it into a strong research space with
functional storage and work space and easily accessible material.
~Prepare complete archival records of all material; making sure that all items are
photographed and are paired with a written description/information card. Connect all
existing archived documentation with actual items to ensure a complete collection.
~Complete digitization of archival catalog, and processing new material.
~Knowledgeable with types and classifications of historical documents and the archiving
process. Opportunity to engage with the Laconia Historic and Museum Society, with
one-on- one sessions, diving into their methods of organizing large collections and
processing new material.
