Squam Conservation InternshipSquam Lakes Association – Posted by SLA
The Squam Conservation Internship provides skills and experience for future conservation professionals while working as the driving force behind the Squam Lakes Association’s conservation mission. This volunteer internship provides hands-on conservation work experience and certifications over a broad range of activities. Interns serve as campsite hosts and caretakers at our backcountry campsites, work toward the eradication of variable milfoil, help preserve loon populations on Squam, engage both youth and adults in environmental education, and perform other conservation duties such as shoreline restoration and trail maintenance and construction. This is an unpaid volunteer internship, with a food and travel reimbursement, and housing provided. We select eight interns each year all with a great attitude and commitment to the SLA's mission who enjoy hard work and aren't afraid to get dirty. The real benefits to interns are the training and experience along with the location here on beautiful Squam Lake. On days off interns swim, explore the White Mountain National Forest, paddle or sail (boats available at our Resource Center), or head out for a bike ride on quiet back roads or some of the area’s single track. Squam Conservation Interns receive the following as part of the internship: -Scuba diving certification -Weed control ...
