Shortly after moving to New Hampshire four years ago, I met Ashley in a fierce game of Dodgeball through the NH Sports and Social Club. We reconnected at Barre and Yoga classes at Barre Life NH, a little less competitive environment, three and a half years later. We started following up on our early summer morning classes by, ironically, drinking Christmas tea across the street at Café La Reine. I found Ashley to be one of the most approachable, genuine and kind women that I’ve become acquainted with in New Hampshire. Ashley was even awarded “most likely to brighten your day” by her employer, Dyn.
Ashley recently purchased a home, which has opened the doors for many more opportunities and experiences. She now works seven minutes from her house at one of New Hampshire’s fastest growing companies that is headquartered right in downtown Manchester. “Knowing many of my colleagues commute, some over an hour, makes me appreciate my home town even more. Not having to spend time traveling, allows me to expend more time doing things I love right at home.”
She has really taken to gardening and yard work, along with a little R&R on her hammock. Ashley secures first pick of her favorite flowers and plants, and gains knowledge of the different varieties through her part time job at Farm and Flower Market Flower Shop.
“One of my favorite hidden gems, that is new to me but not to others, is Tower Hill Pond in Auburn NH. It is so beautiful, with a plethora of hiking trails and a large pond for kayaking and fishing. It is hard to believe it is just minutes from my house.” Ashley explains there are always multiple options for weekend activities like being able to drive to the seacoast, the mountain, the country or a city in under an hour. Ashley believes NH is great state for dog owners too! “There are really nice dog parks and places to go hiking. Experiencing all four seasons is something I have grown to love, despite this brutal winter.”
Ashley explains that the Manchester downtown area is continuing to grow into an amazing city with numerous restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and fitness studios. “Where I am located, I am lucky enough to be able to walk to all of them.” Being in NH all her life, Ashley has witnessed immense growth in the city of Manchester from the Verizon Wireless Arena, the Fisher Cats, Currier Museum, Elm Street, the Millyard and so much more, “I can’t imagine what another 10 years will bring.” She enjoys seeing a show at the Palace or painting at MUSE, grabbing a bite to eat downtown or just heading out for a nice drink and dessert at Cotton or Republic.
