9 to 5: Gunner Siverly – Not Your Average Pizza Guy

Who is Gunner?

Gunner Siverly grew up in Orland and Bucksport, Maine. He also went to school in Maine, completing a degree in Marketing Management and Business Administration at Thomas College.

Gunner has an interesting story of how he ended up in New Hampshire: “4 years ago I left Maine on a road trip around the country and went through 32 states for 4 1/2 months. On that journey, I made connections and landed a job. I left Maine and came to New Hampshire to work all around New England for Vitamin Water, but it was based out of Newton, MA. I lived in Nashua at that time. When that program ended, I found the job with American Flatbread and Rustic Crust at the end of 2013.” Gunner made the move to Manchester and began his journey with Ever Better Eating out of Pittsfield, NH as their Field Marketing Manager.

When Gunner was growing up, he wanted to be a professional football player or a fighter pilot. Although he didn’t go down those paths, Gunner found a career that he enjoys with a company he loves working for. For a young professional, it really doesn’t get much better than that! Gunner has been with Ever Better Eating for over two years now and feels he fits very well in his role.

So, what exactly does Gunner do?Gunner 300 pixels

“As Field Marketing Manager, there really is no typical day. I have a lot of planning, so that is most often what I do; plan the events that me and my team will attend around the state, New England, and the entire country.” The field marketing team are the people who travel around promoting the two pizza brands of Ever Better Eating – Rustic Crust and American Flatbread.

When I asked Gunner what he loves about his job, he said it’s because “it’s always something different. When I get done setting up in-store demo events, it’s time to look at outdoor festivals. When I am done setting up the festivals and picking our dates, it’s time to get the races and concerts locked down. Once that is done, it’s time to plan for Expo West. And when Expo West is done, you start back over again!” Who wouldn’t love working with pizza? I mean, it is the world’s favorite food, right? Sounds like a dream job to me!

With all of the events and travel, Gunner clearly doesn’t work the “normal” 9-5. Chances are you won’t catch him in his office space in Pittsfield. Things are constantly changing for his team, and with each season brings new events around the state that bring great opportunity for Ever Better Eating and their two pizza brands.

What are Gunner’s greatest accomplishments?

“Getting the job I currently have was a huge accomplishment, as it is the first time I have had control over an entire department. Taking control of Field Marketing and implementing best practices while creating an atmosphere where my employees can learn and grow while honing their craft definitely is atop my accomplishments for the past couple years.”

Where does Gunner play?

Gunner footballAlthough Gunner didn’t reach his childhood dream of becoming a pro football player, he finds time to play semi-professional football for the Granite State Destroyers in Raymond, NH after work. He also enjoys snowboarding, hiking, traveling, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with family in the area.

Gunner is a self-described movie buff, so you can find him at the Regal Cinemas in Hooksett often. “Mt. Washington is incredible in the winter time. I love climbing Mount Monadnock, the Lost River Gorge is beautiful in the summer, whenever heading north the drive on the Kancamagus Highway is always breathtaking.”

Gunner is a big fan of Mint Bistro and the Gyro Spot in downtown Manchester. The Barley House in Concord is another favorite spot for him, as well as Tucker’s in Hooksett and Riverwalk Café in Nashua.

Where will we see Gunner in 5 years?

Gunner will be starting a family, buying a house, and transitioning into coaching football instead of playing in the near future. “As for work, I hope to be helping Ever Better Eating grow both of our brands, American Flatbread and Rustic Crust and continuously increasing the field marketing department by adding talented staff.”

Although originally from Maine, Gunner has settled into New Hampshire and gotten to know why people choose to stay here, and he himself wants to stay and continue to help grow and represent the two brands he is so passionate about.
