9 to 5: Tim Martin – Neoscope

201508_10150159333658672_772433671_6607735_7254736_oTim exemplifies the true value of work life balance. The decision of choosing Portsmouth for the heart of his business came with ease. From the charm and history of the streets, to the mouth-watering restaurants, local music, arts and culture, to the scenic areas to run and practice yoga, there is a quality of life you just can’t find in every state. He has blended his passion and knowledge for technology and community and created a client-focused, technology-driven company.

Since 2006, Necoscope has kept businesses up and running through proactive flat rate managed IT solutions. While his team works to improve companies’ connections to technology, they also strive to be a trusted and responsible member of the community in which they all work and live. Tim and his employees give back through organizing volunteers and attending local charity events and donating for sponsors’ events at statewide non-profits and organizations like Strawbery Banke, New Heights Adventures for Teens, Cocheco Valley Humane Society, Portsmouth Music and Arts Center and many more.

NS OfficeTim enjoys the ability to work with business owners, town managers, superintendents and the great folks at local non-profits throughout the state to learn about their businesses and how Neoscope can help them meet their business/mission objectives through the use of technology. Tim aspires to open satellite offices throughout the state to continue recruiting local college students and offering job opportunities.

I’m proud to have accomplished the goal of building a team of awesome people that I look forward to work with every day and share the excitement of growing a business in NH.” He attributes a lot of the company’s success to his employees’ energy. “It’s because of the collective energy of this company and the referrals from our clients that we have doubled in size and revenue multiple consecutive years and in a short amount of time went from 5 to 20 employees.”

The change of seasons is a big motivation for Tim to continue to run his technology company in NH. In the winter, he spends a lot of time exploring the mountains on his snowboard between Crotched Mountain, Gunstock, Loon and Waterville, and in the summers, he heads to the beaches and lakes. You can catch him taking his boat to the sandbar at Lake Winnisquam, where he throws the frisbee all day on the sandbar. He carves out time through out in week to compose and play his music, practice yoga at BikraHiking Sunapeem Yoga In Portsmouth and meditate. “I love running downtown and along the beach during the various seasons. I also have a little tour that I give to friends and family that are visiting the area that starts in Portsmouth and goes through New Castle stopping by various sites along the way.” Tim is looking forward to trying out Zip lining at Gunstock and taking a helicopter ride with Seacoast Helicopters.

“When you show up to work every day with a collective mission and it doesn’t feel like work because you are having so much fun and enjoying all of the amenities thaseacoast half marathon 2013t we are so fortunate to have here in NH, that’s when you know you’ve done something right.” Tim wakes up every morning ready to take on the day while growing a business with a group of clients, business partners, peers and staff that he considers to be like family. When we asked him to describe his perfect weekend this is what he said:

“The perfect weekend would be an early meditation session followed by coffee downtown at Breaking New Grounds. Next, I’d take a 5-10 mile run starting in Portsmouth, along the water through the New Castle loop. It’s a beautiful run with the majority of it on the water. I’d follow-up with a swim and a shower at Spinnaker Point gym near downtown, head over to the farmers’ market for some fresh food, personal care products and their amazing apple cider donuts. I’d follow-up with a trip to Strawbery Bank to tour the history of the area, grab lunch at one of the many restaurants along the water. Spend the day walking around town and cap the day off with a dinner at the 100 Club.”
