A White Mountain Work Day: Planning Ahead

Picture this: Waking up at 6AM to the sound of crickets and birds, having a nutritious breakfast, and setting out on an hour-long adventure of your choice.Take a quick hike, mountain bike ride, play 9 holes, ski a few runs, or do a few personal errands all before opening that first email around 9AM.As technology continues to direct our workday for better or worse, there is a significant increase in the percentage of professionals working from home. brett-bikeBy 2016, it is predicted that 63 million Americans will be working within their same industry, but from home (mashable.com).Knowing this, assuming it sounds appealing, how can you best prepare yourself to be one of those 63 million Americans?Where would you love to live when working from home if you only had to commute to the office 1-2 days per week to touch base?I can attest that working for a Digital Firm is a lifestyle change and one that takes a bit of time to adjust to.Graduating from college, I envisioned myself working 9-5, 5 days a week in the city.I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work for a New Hampshire based, Global Sales & Marketing Consulting firm.This allows me to live in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire, and commute to Boston 1-2 days per week.On a daily basis, I work from the home office participating in conference calls, webinars, business development, and client relationship strategy with colleagues worldwide.With such a position, you may feel as if you are living the life of a retired executive: volunteering your expertise to local non-profits and chamber of commerce, building your network and learning from the many seasoned professionals who have chosen New Hampshire as retirement destination, as well as enjoy the flexibility of your schedule keeping deadlines and company projections in mind.There are endless amounts of growing opportunities to be a part of such a lifestyle in New Hampshire.
