STEM — science, technology, engineering and math — is everywhere we look. It is the computers we use, the phones in our pockets, the roads we drive on, the buildings we work in and the shows we binge on Netflix.
Northern New England is a hub for innovation, and we have carved out our own place in designing what the future will look like. What we need to do now is showcase that to the world.
With this idea in mind, the New Hampshire Union Leader has launched the Wicked STEM Expo, presented by the University System of New Hampshire. The aim of the expo is to gather all things STEM in New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Northern Massachusetts under one roof. We will do that on Saturday, October 24 at the NH Sportplex.
We will show the youth in our region how many exciting, challenging and rewarding opportunities there are right in their backyard. We will show that this area has something for everyone: ocean, mountains, cities and farms but also exciting career opportunities around every corner.
Elementary and middle school students will be able to participate in interactive activities provided by a variety of organizations to include The Academy of Applied Science, industry associations, the NH Fisher Cats, the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains, and many more to come.
High school and college students will be able to network with companies who exhibit and apply for internships and job openings. Our main stage will feature inspiring talks throughout the day. Higher education is changing by the minute to accommodate the needs in the area, and many will be on hand to talk with students about what they have to offer.
We couldn’t do any of this work without the support of our sponsors, including the New Hampshire Tech Alliance. It is an exciting time to live in New Hampshire, and we are growing quicker than ever before. We are excited to offer another way to highlight what an amazing place we all live in.
Bring your kids, nieces, nephews and friends for a day of fun and learning at the Wicked STEM expo! Follow our social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and check out our website for updates throughout the year.
