Doing Good New Hampshire with Whitney Vachon

This week I had the pleasure of speaking with Whitney Vachon! Whitney was born and raised in Laconia, NH and now lives in Franklin, NH. Growing up Whitney was very active in the school community, but decided to leave New Hampshire and live in the Detroit, Michigan area. After a year away, New Hampshire was calling her back home.  Now, back in New Hampshire, she is no longer taking for granted the lake, the mountains, and the sense of community the state has.

Whitney works alongside Carly Howie and Sam Secord and together formed Waters Edge Realty Group at Keller Williams. They help their clients buy and sell property throughout the gorgeous Lakes Region working with the formula Knowledge, Connection, Passion & Integrity.

When Whitney isn’t working you can find her grabbing a coffee and waffle at Wayfarer Coffee in Laconia or Lakeport, getting lunch at the new Farm to Table Restaurant Trillium or grabbing a bite at Burrito Me, both in the downtown Laconia area. Whitney also frequents Asian Delight and Vulgar Brewing Company in Franklin. Her favorite places to work out are Body Design By Joy in Gilford, or Pilates, Etc. in Tilton. Whitney is all about supporting… local! If she is not working, or supporting local downtown businesses she is walking and biking the WOW Trail in Laconia, the Franklin Falls Dam, or hiking beautiful mountains like Morgan and Percival in Holderness!

About a year ago, Whitney decided she wanted to give back to the small towns that helped her become the woman she is today. She first reached out to the New Hampshire Humane Society and started volunteering weekly taking dogs out for rides and adventures! She would then post them on her social media accounts and be the voice for these voiceless beautiful souls. Her love for animals and work on social media got her an invitation to join the New Hampshire Humane Societies Board of Directors!

Whitney believes in empowering women and working together for the greater good! She and Carly started a Facebook group called the Lady Boss Network. This is a platform for women to discuss business and community events and to work together to help each other be the best entrepreneur they can be while giving back.

Whitney is also a new board member of Fusion, the young professional group for the Lakes Region. Whitney loves donating to charities, especially the Humane Society, and the Lakes Region Children’s Auction. Her favorite charity event is Lakes Region Dancing with the Stars.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Whitney has had time to reflect on the Lakes Region and is now more than ever grateful to live there! She is blown away by the kindness, generosity, and drive of community members and businesses alike.

When asked why young professionals should get involved with their community Whitney said:

“Jump in, start somewhere, get to the table even just to listen. I did not realize prior to how badly we are wanted and needed in our community. We bring a different set of eyes and a new perspective. LET’S BE THE CHANGE.”

There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness. –Dalai Lama

There are so many wonderful people and agencies making a difference in our own backyards!

We all can make a positive change in our communities – it starts with us!

Until next time – Do Good NH!!!
