The brand new Union Leader Headliners Series will officially kick off on Thursday, August 22. Headliners will feature one on one conversations with compelling guests from the region. You’ll get to know the history behind well-known individuals and stories from the area and the audience will be able to engage with our guest(s).
The first guest is comedian Juston McKinney. Juston lives in Newmarket, NH and is a nationwide comedian. Juston’s credits include multiple performances on The Tonight Show, his own Comedy Central Presents special and his one-hour special Juston McKinney – A Middle-Class Hole, released by Warner Brothers. His new one-hour special, Parentally Challenged, is available on Amazon Prime.
This is a guaranteed night of laughs and fun as we sit down with Juston. Check out the full preview of the event. Our conversation with Juston will take place on Thursday, August 22 at the Currier Museum of Art from 5:30p – 7:00p. Tickets are $15.
Next on the schedule we will feature the Footprints in the Snow story that originally ran in the Union Leader in January. Avid hiker and volunteer rescuer Pam Bales will walk through how a physical rescue in the White Mountains became an emotional rescue when she came across footprints in the snow that she could not ignore. Ken Norton, Executive Director of NAMI NH, will join the discussion to talk about suicide prevention and the science behind how suicide is reported in the media and how to decrease the risk for future suicide. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 11 at the Spotlight Room at the Palace Theatre from 5:00p – 7:00p. Tickets are $10.
In October we will welcome Oscar winner Matt Renner. Matt is a Durham native and is Vice President of Production at National Geographic Partners. He was an executive producer in the Free Solo documentary which depicted professional rock climber Alex Honnold’s journey to conquer the first free solo climb of the infamous El Capitan at Yosemite National Park. This nail biting documentary was a huge hit among those inside and outside of the fitness community.
We’ll talk with Matt about his journey from Oyster River High School to working his way up the ranks to co-executive producer of Deadliest Catch, to his most recent projects. After our conversation we will screen Free Solo. The event will take place in October and more details will be announced soon.
This is just the beginning of the Headliners series. It will continue on in 2020 and we’ll get to dive into more stories and feature the best of the best in New Hampshire. Be sure to check the website for updates and email us if you’d like to be added to the list to be notified when new events are announced.
