Brunch n. a combination of lunch and breakfast. Usually eaten in the late morning but never past 3pm.
Brunch v. a social event that has become its own act. Used in a sentence “Let’s Brunch on Sunday”.
For people that are not familiar with Brunch, it is the new social event of the late 2000s. Groups of friends, young and old, come together to enjoy a late breakfast over fun alcoholic drinks. There have to be mimosas, always. Manchester has jumped onto this new trend and has done an impressive Brunch transformation to downtown Manchester. Here is the breakdown that has a little something to offer for everyone:
For the Classics:
Firefly American Bistro.
If you are new to the Brunch scene, this is your place. They offer a well range Bloody Mary bar, an amazing menu (did I hear Lobster Eggs Benedict?!), and so many unique variations of other cocktails that will leave you coming back. However, I do recommend calling ahead of time!
For the Frequent Bruncher
Funktion Spirits & Spoonfuls
A new hip joint right in the middle of Elm St. What to enjoy some live music while you sip on your morning mimosa? This is your place. The environment is retro meets industrial, and their food is just as unique. If you are Frequent Bruncher and you need to mix things up, go here!
Currier Art Museum
Everyone in Manchester has been to the Currier Art Museum at least once in their life, but have you ever been for Brunch? Every second Sunday, the Currier has a Jazz Brunch from 10-2:00pm. A total of $19.95 gets you a full breakfast, and live local talented musicians. It’s the perfect event to impress friends from out of town.
The Organic Foodie
If you have been searching for that “not so guilty” brunch, this is your place. Each plate is hand crafted into a delicious refreshing meal. The intimate café is not for big crowds, so it’s the perfect place to catch up with one or two friends. The Bloody Marys are $5, and their mimosas $7. Coffee more your speed? Republic offers a wide menu from espresso to iced coffee.
The Morning Daredevil
El Rincon Zacatecano Taqueria
Ok so I may be playing favorites, this is one of the best restaurants in Manchester. If you like Mexican food, then this is your place. They open at 11:00am, and offer a smaller breakfast menu than most but all worth it. The people are great, the food is great, and it doesn’t hurt the bank. El Rincon is BYOB, so grab a bottle of Andre, OJ, and have a seat.
A Manchester favorite, this is a great place to meet your friends on a Sunday morning and have relaxed, fun filled brunch. Brunch is held from 11-2, with a decent menus, and of course Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas
Thirsty Moose Tap House
A brand new Manchester addition. I have only heard great things about the food and drinks, and with a place with over 100 beers on tap I wouldn’t expect anything less. After the New Year, the Thirsty Moose will begin their Brunch specials; $2 Mimosas and $3 Bloody Mary’s. Along with a specialty menu from 10:30-3, and 10:30-1 during the football season. Sign me up!
