What was your initial reaction to being named one of the Coolest Companies for Young Professionals?

We feel that it represented our culture well and is nice recognition that we are providing a dynamic and challenging work environment for young professionals.

Is there an interesting fact about your company that many people are not aware of?

There are multiple theories on why the company was named Red River.

You offer a Red River Academy program for recent college graduates. Could you describe the program in more detail?

We are looking for technical talent that is new in their career or recent college graduates. We understand that they do not yet have the skills to contribute immediately nor do they understand our mission and commitment to customer service. The academy program standardizes elements of our training and simultaneously provides a peer group for new technical employees to learn together.

What are the top three qualities that you look for when bringing on new employees?

Intelligence, Drive, Integrity.

What creative things do you do to inspire a positive company culture?

We try to celebrate wins – and wins are loosely defined. We all work hard so find a reason whether it is a sale, a project done, an issue resolved, etc. and celebrate when it is closed. We have a very open work environment – collaboration is emphasized and necessary to succeed. Positive reinforcement on a job well done and a willingness for management to listen to employees’ ideas is critical.

How would you like people to remember your company?

We are a company that embraces challenges and thrives on change. We are hard working and philanthropic. By treating our employees well and empowering them to solve problems we are able to provide exceptional customer service.

What’s your favorite “hidden gem?”

A favorite hidden gem is Pollard’s Mills in Newport.

What’s your favorite local watering hole?

Salt Hill Pub– Lebanon, Hanover, Newport, Sunapee – convenient for all employees!

Where’s your favorite place to get away for the weekend?

North Conway and the White Mountains.

Which is the best season and why?

Fall. Crisp and cool. Great foliage. Time to start drinking dark beer and eating comfort food.

Which city/town have you yet to visit but look forward to once time presents itself? What would you want to do once you got there?

I feel like I have visited them all but I always love Portsmouth. Lots of good restaurants, coffee shops, and of course the ocean

Do you prefer the sunrise or the sunset? And where in NH do you catch the best?

Sunset. From any location that gives a view of the CT river with the Green Mountains in the background.
