My End of Summer Blues

Summer is my favorite season and the perfect time for my ubiquitous rants about the evil of close toed shoes and pants (seriously – they are prisons for your legs), but I will not subject you to either of those rants. Today.

And now summer is almost over and I will start having to wear close toed shoes again (I still refuse to wear leg prisons). Somehow, my calendar for August filled up completely over the past week and I am trying to pack in as much warm and sun and flip-flops as humanly possible before winter comes. Because, my friends, winter is coming.

And foot and leg freedom is going.

And foot and leg freedom is going.

Instead of being sad about all of the things that I didn’t get to do this summer (float on a river, hike every mountain ever, throw a ‘make your own superhero’ party, etc…), I would like to focus on all of the fun that I did have. So, here’s the run down of what happened to me this summer.

1.) Found out that coconut flour and coconut sugar exist

So these things exist and the fact that they exist makes me happy.

2.) Met my favorite mystery solving dog and his friend Shaggy

I've joined the gang and now I solve mysteries.

3.) Hiked Mt. Monadnock

Best view on the mountain.

4.) Spent multiple weekends at Hampton Beach

5.) Touched a giraffe

I touched this guy. Right on his face.

6.) Spent multiple weekends on Deering Lake in Deering, NH (by the way, it’s pretty spectacular)

This is quite possibly my favorite place in the entire world.

7.) Attempted to learn guitar (still working on that)

8.) Painted an awesome picture of a Dalek

I call this masterpiece 'Exterminate.'

So far, this summer has lived up to my high expectations for the season and I will be sad to see it go.  I’m sure that my feet will be sad to see summer go as soon as they are locked up in foot jail.
