I am the New Girl in town (oh yes, that capitalization was intentional). I have lived in Keene for a little over eight months and so far, I am loving it. I would like to share with you a few of my favorite things about Keene, thus far.
I originally joined KYPN because it was one of my work initiatives. My company is newer to the Keene market and I was tasked with getting out and networking on behalf of Adecco. I love attending KYPN events and even though every event is marked on my calendar in green (according to my color-coding key, green means work), I don’t think of it as work anymore — I go to visit friends, to make new friends, and learn more about my new great community.
I haven’t chosen a favorite of the two, but I love both little coffee shops on Main Street. Usually, I make my decision by the direction I am traveling on Main Street (if I am driving) or my location (if I am walking). My favorite thing about these places is that they do not use flavored soy milk, so when you want a soy latte you’re not getting something that is ridiculously sweet and vanilla-ey. This girl loves her some coffee, but isn’t all about extra sweet.
Can we just talk about cheese for a second? Cheese and ranchero sauce and baby chimis! I have a hard time expressing my feelings for Margaritas in just a few words, so let’s just leave it at that.
Keene has the cutest Main Street on the planet. And, just about all of my favorite things are there – Margaritas, Brewbakers AND Prime Roast, Central Square (please refer to the picture), my job, and a whole bunch of other stuff. The best part? I live within walking distance of Main Street and most of my favorite things.
Being the New Girl has its ups and downs – living with Winston, Nick, and Schmidt isn’t always the easiest of situations, but living within walking distance of all the best (and this was just a partial list) that Keene has to offer makes being the New Girl great.
*disclaimer – I am not really Jess Day and I take no credit for any of the show “New Girl,” even if it is based on my life.
