NH State Parks: Diverse Awesomeness

PrintI am SO excited! We just bought our New Hampshire Resident Family Season Pass for the NH State Parks! My husband and I are putting the State Parks map up on the wall at home so we can keep track of how many we visit this summer. Between weekends and the fact that we’re planning a staycation this year, I bet we can get to a lot of them. I’ll post about the ones we visit as we go!

Did you know NH State Parks manages 38 day use parks, 19 state parks campgrounds with 1,300 campsites, 16 historic sites, 24 state beaches (lake and ocean), 2 ski areas, 7,000 miles of snowmobile trails, and 1,000 miles of ATV trails?  I didn’t! That’s an amazing offering by a little state like NH.

Also, their Power of Parks program looks great for all ages.

Top of the list for me is to explore everything that Franconia Notch State Park has to offer. I just learned it was rated #2 best state park in the country because of its “diverse awesomeness” by Adventure Journal in 2012. That kind of says it all, right?
