Reviving the Month of November

November is my least favorite month.  While I am grateful that the leaves on the trees lasted a little bit longer this year, it is typically such a dreary, dark, and cold time of year.  However, it does help to improve one’s mood by scheduling some fun activities…such as eating out at a local farm-to-table restaurant!

Earlier this month, I made reservations at Revival Kitchen & Bar for a Friday night dinner with a few friends.  Revival is located in downtown Concord on Depot St.  They are known for their fine dining experience and local farm-to-table ingredients.  They also started outdoor seating options during the pandemic, so they now have an outdoor patio area for warmer months – it even has heat lamps.

After a friendly welcome from the host, we were seated at our table, a high-top situated in a little nook of the restaurant.  The menu offers seasonal options, including cheese platters and small and large plates.  We decided to start off our meal with a platter of New England cheeses.  After some helpful suggestions from our waiter, we selected 4 cheeses: Mt Alice, Reading Raclette, Tapping Reeve, and Bayley Hazen Blue.  The platter is also served with slices of baguette, berries, and candied walnuts.  Every cheese practically melted in our mouths – and we had to fight over seconds!

While their menu offers a variety of wine, beer, and cocktails, each of us chose a special cocktail – mine was Green Garden, a gin, elderflower liqueur, and cucumber juice mixture.  A splendid combination!

We all ordered a large plate…from seared sea scallops, to bouillabaise, to grilled Robie Farm NY sirloin, to apple cider brined chicken breast, to my crispy quinoa cakes…each of us raved about our dishes!  My quinoa cakes were served on a bed of wilted greens, pearl onions, apples, and sweet potato, with a delicious cashew puree.  Yum!

After our delectable meal, we glanced at the dessert menu and couldn’t resist a few dessert options.  One friend ordered a shot of espresso, which was served with a fancy stick of sugar, to complement his pistachio gelato.  Another friend ordered the vanilla bean creme brulee.  And yet another round of outstanding reviews!  They also offer dessert cocktail options that would pair nicely with any of their desserts.

The ambience in the restaurant provided the perfect atmosphere for a comfortable and sophisticated fine dining experience.  If you’re looking for absolutely phenomenal farm-to-table meals and a fun evening, you have found the right place!  I would recommend a reservation, especially if there are any events or shows in Concord taking place that day.  Their current hours are Tuesday through Thursday from 4:00-9:00 pm and Friday through Saturday from 4:00-10:00 pm.  I can’t wait to go back for another dinner!
