Road Race Season in New Hampshire

It’s finally warm again in New Hampshire and not a minute too soon! This winter felt like an eternity, but now that good weather has arrived, it’s time to plan for all the amazingly fun things there are to do around New Hampshire outside. One thing we certainly have plenty of is road races.

Whether you like to compete for the best time or simply take a stroll with your friends and family, a road race is a great way to spend a morning. They almost always benefit one cause or another, and for those who are more adventurous, you can always do a fun themed-run and get really messy!

So why not get active and burn some of those winter calories? Check out a few road races particularly in Southern New Hampshire later this month:

Joe English Trail Challenge:

Amherst, Sunday, May 7th, start times vary.

Challenge yourself by running a race through the hills and woods of Amherst. There are three versions of this race, and all proceeds go to land conservation.

Spartans Color Run:

Manchester, Sunday, May 7th, 9:30am start time.

This event is less about racing and more about fun! Enjoy jogging or walking along the course through a ton of colored powder, and be the glorious rainbow you are at the finish line…literally!

Ava’s Army Family Fun Run:

Salem, Saturday, May 13th, 10:30am start time.

This race benefits the #BRAva Memorial Fund in memory of Ava’s struggle with cancer. Children are welcome, and there will be activities like face painting and crafts as well as sellables and raffles.

Stonyfield 5k & Fair:

Londonderry, Saturday, May 13th, 10am start time.

Enjoy live music, food, games, craft beer and cool gear while participating in this fun road race and fair. While there is a small fee to run the race, the fair itself is free and includes tons of fun activities and sights for the whole family!

Granite State Marathon:

Nashua, Tuesday, May 16th, 6am start time.

Looking for a bigger challenge? Have you always wanted to tackle a half or full marathon? Try running some laps around the great city of Nashua and see if you can finish that ultimate hurdle! Good luck!

And that’s just a tiny sample! There are races all over the Granite State this month, so be sure to check out what’s happening in your neighborhood and support some great causes. For more races, check out this list, and enjoy the sunshine!
