Running 5Ks

North Country beauty! I would like to find races in parts of NH that I have never been.

North Country beauty! I would like to find races in parts of NH that I have never been.

I haven’t really kept my New Year’s resolution, it was to be a healthier person. For some reason it’s been so hard for me to be motivated to change my bad eating habits. In the past I have never had a problem and when I start eating healthy and working out I stick with it. Ever since the birth of my second son my sweet tooth has been 1,000 times worse than normal, which for me is a lot. I could crush a whole package of Samoas and not even think twice about it.

So I think I have figured out a motivator to keep me on track. 5K races! I used to hate running until college, I started and became addicted. The feeling after a nice long run is priceless. So full of energy, tired, but wanting to run more. Your head is so clear afterwards and I long to get that feeling back. I prefer to run outside but this cold weather really is making it difficult for me. I know, I know, excuses, excuses.

I figured if I sign myself up for 5K runs then I will have to start running and get myself back into shape. I will be signing up (and raising money) for races like the Rock N Race for the Payson Cancer Center at the Concord Hospital, The Prouty for the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, the CHaD Hero at Dartmouth-Hitchcock,, and my best friend Andrea and I will be signing up for a Tough Mudder! I would like to do 1-2 races a month so if we have any runners that could send me some information on other races in New Hampshire I would greatly appreciate it! Add your ideas in the comments below.

I can’t wait to start this journey and share my results with everyone. Also if anyone in the Concord area is interested in running with me I would love the company!
