A Slice of Silence: Meditation, Reiki, and Healing by Donation

So, I have this Portsmouth problem I must tell you about.

There’s so much going on in this city and I can’t quite seem to fit it all in. (Yeah, I know, my Portsmouth problem is actually a really terrific one to have.) Each night of the week offers something. Whether you’re a musician, foodie, or writer, there’s a show, festival, or organized Meetup calling your name. With so much to pack onto your calendar, it can be tough to find a few minutes of silence to rest and recharge.

It might be hard to believe, but I found my slice of silence in the heart of downtown Portsmouth. Last month I joined a wonderful group of souls who work together to host ongoing Meditation, Reiki, and Healing by Donation evening gatherings.

Upon walking into the candlelit space at 40 Pleasant Street I immediately felt transported to a different realm. It’s amazing what a calming space, good people, and boatloads of positive energy can do to a Tuesday night.

We began and ended the session with a group meditation. After the opening group guided meditation, we all continued to meditate on our own as participants were ushered out of the room and treated to personalized energy healing sessions, each with two practitioners. When everyone was returned to the room and an hour or so had passed, we all came together once more and then ended the evening with a group exercise.

If you’re curious to learn more, or if you’re looking to squeeze some of this good energy into your month, join the group’s Meetup page, and plan to attend the next event on Tuesday November 25. Meditation, Reiki, and Healing by Donation happens every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month from 6:15-7:30pm.

Thanks Angie, Kara, Karly, Miriam, Shelly, and Jackie for a blissful break from the busy Portsmouth life. I’ll be back soon!
