These days I can’t get enough time outside. With the warm summer weather finally here, I’m soaking up as much of the sunshine and warm breezes as I possibly can (with plenty of sunscreen and water of course). Even though I haven’t had “summer break” since college, there’s something about this weather that melts my stress away. Throw in an ocean or mountain view and I feel like I’m perpetually on vacation! So head outside with me and explore some of New Hampshire’s many summertime events!
Summer in the Street
It’s that time of year again! Summer in the Street is one of Portsmouth’s most popular summertime events. On various Saturdays throughout the summer, Portsmouth’s Pleasant Street closes from 5-9:30 pm for musical performances. With a variety of selections throughout the season, it’s fun for the whole family! Bring a picnic and some cold (non-alcoholic) beverages to enjoy while you enjoy some tunes. To view the schedule of performances, visit their website.
Wolfeboro’s Art Walk
Craving some art but don’t want to spend the entire day indoors? Check out Wolfeboro’s Art Walk on Friday, June 27th. Galleries and art locations will open their doors for extended hours on several dates throughout the summer. Grab a bite to eat and enjoy some music as you stroll around downtown viewing the work of many artists. It’s truly an experience that will delight all of your senses!
Farmers’ Markets and CSAs
I love to garden, but I find it hard to wait for fresh produce from my own harvest to come in. Farmer’s markets across the state offer delicious and fruits, veggies, herbs, meat, dairy and much more to satisfy our need for fresh food. To learn more about the New Hampshire Farmer’s Market Association and to find a market near you, visit their website. Want a regular supply of items from your local farm? Join a CSA and you’ll have a variety of fresh produce and more all summer long!
Check it out!
If you can’t make it over to the Seacoast for Summer in the Street, check out Meadowbrook Pavilion in Gilford. With a wide variety of outdoor concerts featuring a long list of talented and well-known musicians, you’ll be entertained all summer long. View the calendar and get your tickets here.
