I recently got a call from Jessica DellaValla; co-coach of Jackson Runs. Jackson Runs is a afterschool program for students at Jackson Grammar School that promotes running, wellness and healthy habits. The group is made up of parents and students but also open to the public. They started with a team goal of being able to compete a 5K and while also promoting the message that “gratitude grows.”
She told me that the children in her group, from kindergarten to sixth grade, had chosen CASA of NH as one of their “superhero” organizations. Additionally, they had selected Conway Area Humane Society and Bartlett / Jackson Food Pantry as their other hero organizations and all profits from their upcoming event will benefit these three local groups. Of course, I was delighted that they chose CASA but I was so impressed that these young people were looking outwards to their community and putting their time and efforts into honoring others.
Their fun family wellness event is called “Superhero Buddy Bash” and it will be located at the 100 Acre Wood in Intervale on Saturday, November 1st from 9am – 12pm. Costumes are optional, but they will add to the festive atmosphere of the day. In addition to wellness activities there will be a 5K and a 1K race starting at 10am. Participants can register at a discounted rate in advance online at Believe in Books or the morning of the event.
Consider participating and help these young people continue to grow gratitude while helping others. If you’re there stop by and say hello – I’ll be at their gratitude activity table. This will be a great day for young families as even the littlest ones can enjoy participating in a 1K in a safe, scenic and family friendly area. Thank you to all of the students and parents involved with Jackson Runs for making this possible!
