On Saturday, Sept. 8, join WZID, Hannaford Supermarkets and a variety of local businesses at Art Jam Riverside in Arms Park to spend a day living your life in full color. Last year, over 3,000 people showed up to participate in Art Jam Bridgefest, a day full of family fun, artistic exposure and community awareness. This year, the event is looking to be bigger and bolder as it’s moved from the bridge to the river, taking on the new name Art Jam Riverside.
I know, I know, you probably want to spend your last summer days at the beach or the lake, splashing in the water and soaking in the rays. However, here are three major reasons why you should spend Sept. 8 at Art Jam Riverside instead.
It’s for a Cause
While Art Jam Riverside is a celebration of art and community, it is also a celebration of recovery. Last year, over $23,000 was raised from this event to be donated to local non-profit organizations that are dedicated to fighting the opioid epidemic in New Hampshire. This year, WZID hopes to raise even more for the beneficiaries, Hope for New Hampshire Recovery and Families in Transition.
Hope for New Hampshire Recovery Executive Administrator Karla Gallagher said, “Last year’s Art Jam was a wonderful example of the public coming out to support addiction recovery. Young people, old people from all walks of life showed up, reflecting the variety of people impacted by addiction.” Each $10 ticket for entry will help these organizations battle addiction in our community.
Your Kids will Love it
Art Jam is not only kid friendly, it’s kid-centric! Throughout the entire park, there will be freebies and games, superheroes, princesses and more to captivate your little one’s attention. On top of all of that, there will be a Kid Zone, brought to you by Dartmouth-Hitchcock, with jumbo games and crafts! Art Jam Riverside is not just something for you and your family to do together. It’s something for you and your family to get excited about!
You’ll Support the Arts
Art Jam Riverside is a community event that serves to connect New Hampshire to the amazing artists and performers around them. With graffiti artists, drummers, aerialists, sculptors and more, there will surely never be a dull moment. And, while you benefit from the entertainment, the artists benefit from you being entertained! Artists will be selling their work and getting their names out there, which is essential to artist success.
Eric Escobar, a graffiti artist who performed at Art Jam last year, said, “Last year, I was kind of representing my own kind of art, just there with my girlfriend, but now we have our own shop. This year, we’ll have a booth set up with the inventory of our store, so that will be a lot cooler.” Escobar continued, “Thank you for all the support from the community, we definitely appreciate local art and sharing our art with everyone, and we look forward to seeing everyone at the event.”
Bring your friends and family out for a last hoorah of the summer on Saturday, Sept. 8th. With good food, great art, amazing performances and awesome giveaways, this day is sure to leave you with memories. For more information, visit the Art Jam Riverside website, Facebook and Instagram pages.
