Take a “Staycation” for Spring Break!

Too often we overlook all the great things in our own area, before setting our sights on vacationing to sandy beaches this time of year. Perhaps it’s just the thought that “the grass is greener on the other side”, or maybe we are just sick of winter! Regardless, it’s far time you take advantage of the awesome things right in your own backyard, which people drive miles to come see.

So this spring break, save yourself some money and refocus. Pretend you are a visitor and think about the places you’d like to check out on your “stay”. Maybe you’ve been to some, maybe you haven’t, but try to look at it all in a new light. I’m certain you’ll experience a new-found love and respect for your hometown, which will help you to appreciate the reasons you live there.

Here are some ideas if you are “staycationing” in the North Country:

  1. Take a hike up one of the peaks.
  2. Explore and take photos of our many waterfalls & classic New England covered bridges.
  3. Catch a show at the Tillotson Center. Camerata New England performs on April 23rd!
  4. Indulge in a fireside latte and panini at Moose Muck Coffee House in Colebrook for lunch, then take an afternoon stroll through downtown Colebrook to shop for gifts and clothing. Finish it up with a visit to Le Rendez Vous for a taste of France, where you can pick up a freshly made baguette to go with dinner, and Belgian chocolates for dessert!
  5. Take drive to stop at historic markers, parks and museums to reflect on our heritage.
  6. Top it off by spoiling yourself with a massage at North Country Muscular Therapy. Relax. Renew. Rejuvenate.

Sounds like a pretty good vacation to me!
