The Squam Lakes Association (SLA) has six full-year (42.5 weeks) positions available through the Lakes Region Conservation Corps for 2020-2021, with the program running from November 2, 2020 - August 26, 2021. The Squam Lakes Association is a part of the Lakes Region Conservation Corps, an AmeriCorps State program that develops skills and experiences for conservation professionals, regardless of current experience levels. Lakes Region Conservation Corps members are the driving force behind many of the conservation efforts in New Hampshire's Lakes Region. The program provides hands-on conservation work experience and certifications over a broad range of areas that ensure that members are capable of independently approaching a variety of tasks in the environmental conservation field. In the winter: maintain the SLA's 50+ miles of trails trek onto the ice-covered lake to monitor water quality lead volunteer crews in the field develop and run engaging environmental programs and hikes assist with developing conservation protocols and reports In the summer season: scuba dive to remove invasive aquatic plants oversee our low-impact campsites develop environmental programs for the public and local summer youth camps remove invasive species maintain the SLA’s trail network educate the public on local and regional conservation initiatives To learn more about the Lakes Region ...
