College Internship Campaign Intern
2020 Presidential candidate John Delaney is looking for interns in New Hampshire. This is an excellent opportunity to get on the ground experience in the first in the nation primary state and exposure on a national campaign. High-school students who are able to drive are also more than welcome to apply! This internship can be done mostly remotely; however we ask you come to the office in Manchester at least once a week and since we are in the office 11-8 most weekdays, we understand that it may be difficult for a high-school student to be able to commute after school but if you’re interested reach out and we can try to accommodate!
Interns will primarily be responsible for assisting the field team’s efforts in recruiting
volunteers, organizing events, and representing the campaign at events. Applicants should be able to communicate with diverse communities in a variety of settings and be enthusiastic about supporting Representative John Delaney’s candidacy and the Democratic Party.
·Interns are responsible for reaching out to prospective Democratic primary voters to recruit
them for campaign events and persuade them to support John’s campaign.
·Participate in regular voter outreach phone banks.
·Input data, recording and reporting results from event and phone banks.
·Attend and staff events, including with the candidate, fellow staff members, volunteers, and
local Democratic members and activists.
·The ability to work on a team and independently when needed.
·Attend weekly training and coaching sessions in the Manchester, NH, office.
·Be willing to support other campaign operations as necessary.
·Willingness and ability to travel at times (with mileage reimbursement).
·Recruit volunteers to participate in voter outreach efforts.
·Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with voters, team members, and
volunteers from a wide variety of backgrounds.
·Previous canvassing experience (doors, phones or both) is a plus.
·Previous grassroots organizing experience or documented history of activism.
·Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships.
·Success at keeping multiple projects organized.
Time Commitment: A minimum two-months term
The program is an unpaid opportunity that provides interns with introductory and ongoing training in the operations of political campaigning. A personal letter of recommendation and educational credits can be offered to all interns on the successful completion of their term.
