Canterbury Shaker Village is offering several full-time internship opportunities with $1500 stipend and onsite housing for summer and/or fall 2019 (flexible start and end dates). Under the guidance of the education and events managers, interns will gain work experience in a variety of museum operations including helping at special events, offering guided tours, and developing family-friendly activities. One to two days of week will be spent on a personal project/s that the interns’ choose with their supervisors’ assistance. In addition, interns will spend one day each week apprenticing at a historic trade and learning from one of the Village’s craft demonstrators.
Ideal candidates will be energetic, self-disciplined, comfortable interacting with diverse staff and visitors of all ages, and have familiarity with museum practices. Recent graduates as well as currently enrolled students in a relevant BA or MA program are welcome to apply. Prospective interns should expect to work Tuesday-Saturday.
