Training to be a Certified Pharmacy Technician is the first step on a progressive career ladder at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Technicians can quickly grow to become Advance Technicians, Pharmacy Leads, Trainers or Supervisors. Pharmacy Technicians are detail oriented, enjoy a fast-paced environment and are committed to helping patients access the medications they need.
Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Program:
The Pharmacy Technician Apprenticeship Program is designed to give trainees the knowledge and skills they need to embark upon a career in the Pharmacy. Up to 20 individuals will be selected and hired by Dartmouth-Hitchcock to become Certified Pharmacy Technicians in our Specialty or Inpatient Pharmacies.
During the 9 week training period Trainees earn college credits and an hourly training wage. At the end of the program students sit for the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam and are enrolled in a 2000 hour US DOL Registered Apprenticeship. The starting salary for Apprentices upon graduation is $17.00 per hour.
This full time, hands-on training program includes both classroom and on-the-job training. Courses offered include Pharmacology, Processing and Handling of Medications and Medication Orders, Procurement, Billing, Reimbursement, Healthcare Professional Communication and Patient & Medication Safety.
