College Internship Tax Internship
Duties will included scanning and organizing of our individual client’s documents for preparation of their tax returns; and as the semester progresses, individual tax return preparation. Duties will also include assistance with preparation of business tax returns and financial statements, assistance on audits, and research of tax and accounting rules as requested and general office duties.
The intern is expected to learn how to prepare mid-level individual income tax returns; and acquire a basic knowledge of business income tax returns. It is expected that the intern will become profecient in the use our tax software, which is widely used in the industry. The intern will also learn the basics of accounting, bookkeeping, trial balance and research softwares also common in the industry. Spreadsheet software skills should be improved. Lastly, the intern will realize a good understanding of how a Certified Public Accounting firm operates.
The intern will learn primarily by doing. The first few days are spent taking tutorials on the various software products. Hands on training will be furnished in the technical aspects of tax preparation. As assistance is requested of the intern on audits, business accounting, tax research etc.; specific direction will be given. Reference sources will be identified, and a direct supervisor identified. All members of our staff are available to give guidance. The intern is furnished with an office and a computer.
